Biography Cyrill Schurch is from Lucerne, Switzerland. He received his Bachelor and Master degrees in piano performance and composition from the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston. After a year of postgraduate studies with David Del Tredici at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York City in 2002, he has obained his PhD at King's College London in 2008. Cyrill teaches composition, theory and piano in Zug, Switzerland. He has been studying piano with John Perry, Konstantin
Scherbakov, Nancy Weems, and Colin Stone. His composition
teachers have
included Robert Nelson, George Tsontakis, Sidney Hodkinson, David Del
Tredici, and Robert Keeley. Cyrill is active as a pianist and composer, as well as
an accompanist. He has collaborated with numerous ensembles, premiered
many new pieces, and has given solo recitals in Europe and overseas.
His music is frequently performed and has received numerous awards,
most recently from the UBS cultural foundation. A selection of his
compositions are published by EMR Editions in Switzerland. |
